Alex Rivera

Ergonomics Researcher & Workspace Specialist

Former physical therapist turned workspace nerd based in Austin, TX. I've tested 40+ standing desks and ergonomic chairs since 2021. Every recommendation is backed by real community data and long-term use reports.

Why this site exists

Most ergonomic-furniture reviews are written from a 30-minute showroom test. The questions that actually matter — how does this chair feel at hour 7? Does that desk wobble at 47 inches with two monitors and a tower computer on top? — don't get answered.

ErgoRatedstarted as a spreadsheet I kept for myself: every desk, chair, monitor arm, and accessory I'd bought, with measurements and long-term notes. Eventually it became something worth publishing.

How we evaluate products

Every recommendation on this site comes from:

  • Personal testing — I own or have hands-on tested every product I recommend. Most are tested for at least 3 months before being reviewed; primary picks are tested for 12+ months.
  • Reddit sentiment analysis — r/StandingDesk, r/OfficeChair, r/ergonomics, r/homeoffice. I read and aggregate community feedback, not cherry-picked comments.
  • Amazon rating data — Cross-referenced with verified purchase reviews to filter astroturfing.
  • YouTube teardowns — Established workspace reviewers who actually measure things, not unboxing-and-vibe-check channels.

Affiliate disclosure

ErgoRated participates in the Amazon Associates program. When you purchase through links on this site, we earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This is how the site stays funded and free of ads.

Affiliate relationships do not influence recommendations. Every product I recommend is something I've personally tested. I turn down affiliate programs for products I wouldn't recommend.

Content update policy

Every product page has a "Last updated" date. I revisit and update content when firmware updates, price changes, or new information materially affects the recommendation. Old reviews don't get silently left to rot.
